Kaiten-Sushi Nemuro Hanamaru: Locations, Crowds, Reservations and Queue-Skipping Tips for Tokyo and Sapporo Branches
NEMURO HANAMARU conveyor belt sushi from Nemuro, Hokkaido is one of Japan’s most popular budget-friendly sushi chains among tourists. Having tried it twice before in Sapporo, I was impressed by the freshness of their seafood, especially the shellfish. Outside Hokkaido, “Nemuro Hanamaru” only has branches in Tokyo, including one at Ginza Tokyu Plaza. During my recent Tokyo trip while staying in Ginza, I decided to visit the Ginza branch for dinner. Here’s a comprehensive guide to Nemuro Hanamaru conveyor belt sushi locations in Tokyo and Sapporo, along with tips for reservations and saving time in queues.

Most branches of “Nemuro Hanamaru” are located in Hokkaido, primarily in Sapporo besides its hometown Nemuro City, with two additional branches in Hakodate. Outside Hokkaido, they only have branches in Tokyo and Yokohama, with no presence yet in other cities like Osaka or Fukuoka. Therefore, foreign visitors who want to try it typically need to visit either Sapporo or Tokyo.
“Nemuro Hanamaru” offers three types of dining experiences: conveyor belt sushi (回転寿司), standing sushi bars (立食い寿司), and seafood rice bowl shops (一夜干しと海鮮丼), with the conveyor belt sushi being the most popular.

Among “Nemuro Hanamaru Conveyor Belt Sushi” branches, four are particularly popular: two in Sapporo and two in Tokyo. These branches attract large crowds mainly because they’re located in tourist areas, with most customers being foreign visitors. Other branches in residential areas are generally less crowded. So if you want to dine here without long waits, consider visiting non-touristy locations.
Table of Contents
I. Nemuro Hanamaru Tokyo Branches
“Nemuro Hanamaru” has 10 branches in Tokyo: 3 conveyor belt sushi restaurants, 1 seafood rice bowl shop, and 6 standing sushi bars. Among the three conveyor belt sushi locations, the busiest is the Ginza branch at Ginza Tokyu Plaza, followed by the KITTE Marunouchi branch near Tokyo Station. The third location at Tokyo Metro Korakuen Station sees fewer visitors as it’s less frequented by tourists.
1. Nemuro Hanamaru Conveyor Belt Sushi Ginza Branch
The Ginza branch is located on the 10th floor of Ginza Tokyu Plaza near JR Yurakucho Station in Ginza 5-chome, making it Tokyo’s busiest “Nemuro Hanamaru” location. For dinner, arrive early as tickets are usually gone by 5:30pm. During my visit, tickets were already sold out by 6:30pm on the first night, but I successfully got one at 5pm the next day, with seating around 7:45pm after a 2+ hour wait.

The KITTE Marunouchi branch is located on the 5th floor of KITTE Marunouchi opposite Tokyo Station’s south exit. While still popular, it’s generally less crowded than the Ginza branch, making it easier to get a ticket with shorter wait times.

1. Kiralis Hakodate Branch
The Kiralis Hakodate branch is located in the basement of Kiralis Hakodate shopping center near Hakodate Station, right next to the Hakodate City Tram Hakodate-ekimae stop. IV. Nemuro Hanamaru Reservation and Queue-Skipping Tips
“Nemuro Hanamaru” conveyor belt sushi’s main appeal lies in its fresh ingredients (especially shellfish) at affordable prices, making its tourist-area branches extremely popular. For lunch or dinner at these locations, expect long waits, and tickets often run out early, potentially leaving you empty-handed.

If you plan to dine at popular branches like the Ginza branch, KITTE Marunouchi branch in Tokyo, or the JR Tower Stellar Place branch and Daido Life Sapporo Building miredo branch in Sapporo, make sure to arrive early.
None of the “Nemuro Hanamaru” branches accept phone reservations. At these busy locations, a self-service ticket machine is now used to distribute queue tickets, which are available until slots are full. Upon arriving at the branch, simply enter your group size into the machine to receive a queue number. Once you have your ticket, there’s no need to wait on-site. You can leave and return when your number is about to be called, so feel free to go shopping or explore nearby without wasting time standing in line.

After obtaining a queue ticket from the machine, you can scan the QR code on it using your smartphone to open a webpage. There, you can set up email notifications or use Line for alerts. Once done, you’re free to shop or do other activities until you receive the notification that your turn is approaching.

In addition to email notifications, the webpage also displays the number of people ahead of you in the queue. If you’re worried about missing your turn, you can check periodically. However, neither the email notifications nor the webpage updates are entirely accurate—they tend to be slightly ahead of the actual progress. For example, if you receive a notification or see that your number is up, there might still be a few groups ahead of you. So, there’s no need to rush when you get the alert. If you’re nearby, take your time heading back, as there’s a 15-minute grace period even after your number is called.
One important note: When you return, make sure to check in with the staff. The system will only display and call queue numbers that have checked in.

Aside from arriving early to get a queue ticket, you can also opt for less crowded branches. The official branch webpage provides real-time updates on the number of people waiting at each location.
