Hotel Nikko Osaka: Reviews, Transportation & Airport Bus
Hotel Nikko is one of Japan’s longer-established hotel chains, and Hotel Nikko Osaka is one of the earlier opened hotels within the Nikko Hotels International group. It is a relatively high-end traditional business hotel, located opposite the Daimaru Shinsaibashi department store and connected to the subway station, offering a super convenient location. Additionally, the hotel is one of the stops for the Kansai Airport limousine bus, making travel to and from the airport very convenient if the timing aligns.

I’ve been to Osaka over ten times in recent years and always prefer staying in hotels in Namba or Shinsaibashi. This stay at Hotel Nikko Osaka was during Christmas. Because Hotel Nikko has a large number of rooms, it still had availability even during the peak travel season around Christmas, which was one of the main reasons for choosing it this time.

Compared to other hotels in the same area and category, Hotel Nikko Osaka’s prices are relatively higher. For example, compared to Cross Hotel Osaka, which is also located on Shinsaibashi Shopping Street, Hotel Nikko Osaka is about 15~20% more expensive. So, if those other hotels had availability, I definitely wouldn’t have chosen Hotel Nikko Osaka due to the price. However, since this trip was decided last minute and the stay was during the Christmas period from December 23rd to 25th, by early December when I booked, all the good quality hotels in the Namba and Shinsaibashi area were fully booked, leaving Hotel Nikko Osaka as the only choice.
1. Location & Transportation of Hotel Nikko Osaka
Hotel Nikko Osaka is situated on Midosuji in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. It’s opposite the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Department Store and the Shinsaibashi Shopping Street, next to the Shinsaibashi OPA shopping mall, and the Shinsaibashi Subway Station is right next to the hotel with a connecting passageway. Therefore, its geographical location is quite excellent, offering great convenience for both shopping and transportation.

The OPA mall next to the hotel is one of the main shopping malls in Shinsaibashi.

The hotel is directly opposite the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Department Store.

Around Christmas every year, Osaka holds the “Osaka Hikari no Ennichi” (Osaka Festival of the Lights), featuring illuminations along Midosuji.

Hotel Nikko Osaka has an indoor passageway connecting it to Shinsaibashi Subway Station. After exiting the subway gate, head towards Exit 8 to reach Hotel Nikko Osaka.

To get to Shinsaibashi Shopping Street from the hotel without using the ground-level crosswalk, you can also go through the subway station and exit via the Daimaru Shinsaibashi department store exit.

Airport Transportation
There are two daily airport bus departures from Kansai Airport (KIX) that have Hotel Nikko Osaka as their final stop. The departure times from Kansai Airport Terminal 1 are 15:45 and 18:55. Additionally, there are three daily airport bus departures from Hotel Nikko Osaka to Kansai Airport, at 7:30, 12:20, and 15:05. (Note: The bus schedule images below are from the past; for the latest schedule, please refer to this page on the official website.)

The airport bus fare is 1,800 yen for adults and 900 yen for children. Tickets from the airport to the hotel can be purchased at the ticket counter or self-service ticket machines outside the arrival hall of Kansai Airport. Tickets from the hotel to the airport can be purchased at the hotel’s front desk, and non-guests can also purchase them.
Alternatively, bus tickets can also be purchased through platforms like Trip.com, Klook, and KKday. The prices on Klook and KKday are the same as purchasing on-site, while Trip.com offers a 2% discount. Here are the links to purchase Kansai Airport bus tickets on these three platforms:
Airport bus tickets are not for a specific departure time; after purchasing, just queue at the designated boarding location.

Tickets purchased through online platforms generally need to be exchanged for a physical ticket at the exchange counter located in Kansai Airport before boarding. Therefore, when buying tickets online, you can usually only purchase tickets for travel from the airport. However, KKday also sells e-tickets that do not require exchange. If you need to purchase a ticket from the city to Kansai Airport, you can buy it on KKday.

When purchasing tickets online for travel from the airport to Hotel Nikko Osaka, you should select Kintetsu Uehonmachi as the destination, but you must take the bus whose departure time is listed as having Hotel Nikko Osaka as the final stop. Otherwise, you will only be able to get off at Kintetsu Uehonmachi Station.
Although there is an airport bus, the frequency is too low. If the bus schedule doesn’t suit you, the only options are to take JR or Nankai Electric Railway.
If taking JR from Kansai Airport to the hotel, you can take the JR Kansai Airport Express Haruka to Tennoji Station, then transfer to the Midosuji Subway Line and get off at Shinsaibashi Station. Alternatively, take JR to Osaka Station, then transfer to the Midosuji Subway Line to Shinsaibashi Station. The route from the hotel to the airport is the same: first take the Midosuji Subway Line from Shinsaibashi Station to Tennoji Station, then transfer to JR for the airport, or take the Midosuji Line to Umeda Station, then transfer at Osaka Station to JR for the airport.
Besides the bus and JR, you can also take Nankai Electric Railway. To get from Kansai Airport to the hotel, take the Nankai Airport Express Limited Express Rapi:t to Namba Station, then transfer to the Midosuji Subway Line and get off at Shinsaibashi Station. The route from the hotel to the airport is the same: first take the Midosuji Subway Line from Shinsaibashi Station to Namba Station, then transfer to Nankai Electric Railway for the airport.

Hotel Parking
Hotel Nikko Osaka has a parking lot, costing 2,800 yen per night.

We stayed in a Superior Semi-Double Room (スーペリアセミダブル), which is 18 square meters, not particularly large.

The wardrobe space is also limited.

The toilet and bathroom design is relatively traditional.

Our room faced Midosuji Boulevard, with Daimaru Department Store directly across the street.

Hotel Nikko Osaka offers complimentary WiFi in its rooms, but the internet speed is extremely slow.

4. Hotel Nikko Osaka Stay Summary
The biggest advantage of the Hotel Nikko Osaka is its convenient location, making it an excellent hotel choice for those visiting Osaka primarily for shopping. Furthermore, the hotel is right next to Shinsaibashi Subway Station, providing convenient transportation to other areas.
Additionally, the hotel is an airport bus stop; if the bus schedule aligns with your flight times, getting to and from the airport is very convenient. However, even if the airport bus times aren’t suitable, taking the subway to transfer to Nankai Railway or JR is not troublesome either. That said, a drawback of Hotel Nikko Osaka is that its prices are generally higher than other hotels in the same category.
Therefore, if other hotels have availability, Hotel Nikko Osaka might not be the first choice, but it can serve as a good backup option when your preferred hotels are fully booked.
