【Fukuoka Accommodation Recommendation】Hotel Forza Hakata: A Convenient and High-Quality Hotel Near Hakata Station
Hakata Station serves as the main transportation hub for Fukuoka, offering access to the Shinkansen, JR lines, and highway buses, all from the same station. The Airport Subway Line also passes through Hakata Station, making it convenient for travel to and from Fukuoka Airport or to areas like Tenjin and Nakasu. This is why the area around Hakata Station is the most concentrated with hotels in Fukuoka, and many travelers prefer to stay here. During our first trip to Fukuoka in 2011, we stayed at Hotel Sunroute Hakata near Hakata Station. For our second trip in 2016, we chose Hotel Forza Hakata, another hotel located near the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station. This hotel not only offers a convenient location but also maintains high quality, making it one of the best Fukuoka accommodation recommendations.

1. Location and Transportation of Hotel Forza Hakata
Hotel Forza Hakata is located near the Chikushi Exit on the east side of Hakata Station, just a 1-minute walk from the exit, making its location extremely convenient.
The front entrance of Hotel Forza Hakata faces Hakata Station Central Street

The hotel also has a rear entrance facing a side street between Hakata Station Central Street and Hakata Station. Since this entrance is closer to Hakata Station, it is more convenient for guests to use, while the front entrance is less frequently used.

To walk from Hakata Station to Hotel Forza Hakata, exit from the Chikushi Exit and turn left into the small alley. At the end of the alley, you will see the hotel building with the Forza sign. The distance from the Chikushi Exit to the hotel is less than 100 meters.

If taking the subway from Fukuoka Airport to Hotel Forza Hakata, you can directly take the elevator in Hakata Station’s subway that connects to the Deitos Annex shopping mall near the Chikushi Exit to reach the ground level.

Fukuoka City is the largest city in Kyushu, so Hakata Station is as busy and lively as train stations in Osaka or Kyoto. In addition to being a transportation hub, Hakata Station also has many shopping malls and restaurants, making it possible to spend an entire day here without needing to go to Tenjin.

2. Environment and Facilities of Hotel Forza Hakata
The land area of Hotel Forza Hakata is relatively small, so the lobby is also compact, but the design and decor are quite stylish.

Next to the lobby, there is a lounge with computers for internet access and printing.

There is also a coffee machine nearby for guests to make their own coffee.

Parking
Hotel Forza Hakata does not have its own parking lot but has partnerships with two nearby public parking lots. The first is JR Hakata City Parking, located above the Deitos Annex shopping mall opposite the hotel’s rear entrance. The other is RIKA Parking Center, about 350 meters away from the hotel.

The parking fee for guests staying at Hotel Forza Hakata is 1,500 JPY per night at both parking lots. However, JR Hakata City Parking only allows parking from 17:00 to 11:00 the next day, and vehicles cannot leave during this period. If the parking time exceeds this window (e.g., leaving after 11:00 the next day or arriving before 17:00 on the first day), an additional fee of 100 JPY per 15 minutes will apply. RIKA Parking Center allows continuous parking for 24 hours, with no departures during this period. Exceeding 24 hours will incur an additional fee of 200 JPY per 30 minutes.
JR Hakata City Parking is the most convenient option. The parking building is visible when looking up from the hotel’s rear entrance.

The parking lot entrance is located down this small alley opposite the hotel’s rear entrance.

The parking lot has limited space, so each floor has few spots. During busy times, you may need to circle multiple floors to find a space.

When entering the parking lot, take a parking ticket at the gate. After parking, bring the ticket to the hotel front desk to have it processed and pay the 1,500 JPY parking fee. Alternatively, you can pay and process the ticket when checking out the next day before driving away. When leaving, insert the processed ticket into the payment machine at the gate. If the parking time is within 17:00 to 11:00, no additional payment is required. If the parking time falls outside this window, pay the additional fee displayed on the machine.

Note: If you park your car in the parking lot on the first day and leave shortly after, then return to park overnight later, you will need to pay for the first parking session yourself. The hotel’s parking discount only applies to the overnight parking session.
At the Hankyu Department Store in Hakata Station, spending 3,000 JPY or more grants you 1 hour of free parking at JR Hakata City Parking. Similarly, spending 3,000 JPY or more at AMU Plaza or Deitos also gives you 1 hour of free parking, while spending 10,000 JPY or more grants 2 hours of free parking. If you spend 3,000 JPY at Hankyu Department Store and 10,000 JPY at AMU Plaza or Deitos, you can combine these for a total of 3 hours of free parking. This is useful if you need to use the parking lot before 17:00 or after 11:00. Simply present your parking ticket to the cashier after meeting the spending requirement to avail of this offer.

This is another affiliated parking lot, RIKA Parking Center. However, due to its distance from the hotel, it is less convenient and rarely used.

3. Rooms at Hotel Forza Hakata, Fukuoka
Hotel Forza Hakata has approximately 18 rooms per floor, with a total of 170 rooms in the entire hotel.

Room keys and important notes

Although the Double Room we stayed in was 18.2 square meters, it felt quite cramped in reality.

Luggage can only be opened in the entrance area.

Our room was on the sixth floor. Although it had a large window, the view was obstructed by the neighboring building’s wall and fire escape, offering no scenery.

The toilet and bathroom are fairly standard, with no notable features.

Toiletries provided in the bathroom

The wardrobe is located in a recess next to the door and is quite small, only accommodating a few pieces of clothing.

Standard amenities in Japanese hotel rooms: refrigerator, electric kettle, TV, ironing board, humidifier, hairdryer, etc. Everything you’d expect is provided.

A unique feature of Hotel Forza Hakata is the electric massage pillow provided in the room, which is perfect for relieving tired feet after a long day of walking.

In addition to the electric massage pillow, Hotel Forza Hakata also provides an iPad in the room. However, the pre-installed apps are in Japanese, and you cannot install new apps, making it rather useless.

Many Japanese hotels provide a universal phone charging cable suitable for any phone, and Hotel Forza Hakata is no exception. Additionally, the desk lamp base doubles as an iPhone charging dock, though it only supports older iPhone models.

The WiFi speed at Hotel Forza Hakata is quite good, with download speeds consistently above 7Mbps, much faster than the Japanese SIM card we purchased for this trip.

4. Summary of Stay at Hotel Forza Hakata, Fukuoka
The prime location and excellent transportation access are the standout advantages of Hotel Forza Hakata. The hotel’s design and decor are also quite impressive, though the room sizes are somewhat small. Additionally, Hotel Forza Hakata enforces a strict no-smoking policy throughout the entire property, ensuring all rooms are smoke-free—a great feature for those who dislike the smell of smoke.
